What is Bioinformatics?
Coined in 1979 by Paulien Hogeweg, bioinformatics refers to molecular biology which uses information technology. It entails the creation of databases, computation theory and statistic techniques to demystify formal and practical issues emanating from the way biological data is managed and analyzed.

The advancement in molecular research technologies have opened the food gates of molecular biology information which the computing and mathematical approach which have come to be collectively referred as bioinformatics strives to manage and analyze.

Bioinformatics is characterized by activities like DNA mapping, analyzing protein sequences, arranging in the ideal order DNA and protein sequences and thereafter creating 3 –D model which is viewable.
