Web content management system (WCMS) is software that is usually implemented as a web application and is used for creating and managing HTML content. It is mainly used to manage and control dynamic and large web material. A WCMS is used in facilitating content creation, editing content, content control and several other important Web maintenance and functions.
Some of the features of WCMS are; automated templates, easily editable content, scalable features, work flow management, standard upgrades of the web, managing documents, delegation of data and content virtualization. It was formally developed in the mid 1990s as a commercial software product.
