Software as a Service (SAAS)

This is a software deployment model that gives a provider the mandate to license an application for use by customers as a service on demand. The providers may have the application on their web servers or can download them to the consumer device. It is disabled after use or when on demand contract expires.

This on demand function is used internally to enable licenses to be shared within a firm or by a third party application service provider where licenses are shared between firms.

SaaS providers charge applications on per user basis whereby there are minimum numbers of users at times and frequently having extra charges for storage and bandwidth
