Facebook cheats on imported contacts

Thursday, July 30, 2009 |

i was reading in a blog about a person's experience with facebook and how facebook siphons off the imported contacts and still maintains them even though it doesn't bring that to the user's notice.

The person's story goes on like this.

Mr.X imported contacts from his gmail.Usually facebook 'suggests' friends only if they are friends of friends or if they share similar interests or live in the same place,etc.Mr.X received two suggestions which he had not selected when importing from gmail. The suggested persons and Mr.X had no similarity whatsoever on comparing the two profiles.

Mr.X decided to check this out.He asked his friend who didn't have a facebook account to create one and import contacts from mail and uncheck almost everybody including X from the list.It so happened that the friend of X got suggestions to include X as a friend.

This implies that(given the story is true)facebook remembers your contacts even though you wish to disregard them.
