Chennai in south india has overtaken all other Nokia manufacturing units to become the largest mobile phone producing unit in the world recently overtaking china in the process.
China has two nokia units and the indian nokia unit in chennai has recently overtaken the larger chinese unit which until a few days back was the largest producing unit of nokia mobile phones in the world.
The nokia india spokesperson is quoted as saying that 'as company policy specific numbers are not to be released but the chennai unit has topped in producing the largest number of mobile phones for nokia'.
Unofficila reports say that around 100 million phones are produced by this 8000 strong workforce every year.
