i just felt like discussing about the beijing olympics

what things were new in this olympics?

The spectacular opening and the closing ceremonies,the lead taken by china in the gold medals tally for the first time and an emphatic way too,the record of the fish man-micheal phelps,the records set by the lightning bolt,etc.

To chinese these olympics this 2008 olympics is a chance to present it in a better way to the people of countries especially western directly rather than the commentaries given by the media of the respective countries.the olympics gave china a chance to impress people across the world of its might and what i can do.sending rockets to clear the skies was a exhibition of how much importance china gave to the olympics.

Not that it did not go without any blips.from the first protest for tibet marred china's reputation.Then the attack on the US basketball coach's family,the faking of the singing girl,etc.
But whatever may be the case post olympics china will be perceived with some awe in the way it conducted the olympics.
