Speeding up firefox

Firefox is said to be slow when compared to internet explorer(which is true also).Here is a way to speed up firefox upto the level of internet explorer or even better.

Though it has become a popular hack I thought it was worth posting .
The configuration of the firefox can be tweaked to improve the speed.The configuration can be accessed by typing 'about:config' in the address bar.Then

scroll down the list and

*Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”(double click on the row to change the value)
*Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
*Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 40 or 50.(which means 40 or 50 connections are made at a time)
*Right click somewhere in the area and select NEW->INTEGER.set the integer name to 'nglayout.initialpaint.delay' and set the value to be '0'.This is time that the browser waits before displaying the contents of the page upon receiving information.
